After the mysterious death of her first husband, Dora returns to live in the house where she spent the first years of her marriage, together with her new partner and the little boy she had with her first husband. Following some strange, almost incomprehensible events, the woman begins to lose her mind: she is convinced that the deceased manifests his dark presence through the child... Directed by the "father" of Italian horror Mario Bava and starring the always great Daria Nicolodi (wife of Dario Argento), the film is a giallo in Argento's style, enjoyable and skillfully directed. The ingenuity and "knack for making do" of the legendary Bava partly make up for the obvious budget limitations, giving life to a horror that is at times frightening and rich in suspense, even if the pace is rather slow. It remains far superior to most modern, big-budget horror films, packed with special effects but "soulless".
