•Splendid giallo by De Palma in this film (whose original title is « Body Double ») invites you to be a witness to a seduction, a mystery, and a murder. The protagonist is Jake Scully (the talented Craig Wasson), a penniless Hollywood actor who survives by playing small roles in B movies and comedies. When he loses an important job (due to his claustrophobia) and discovers that his girlfriend is cheating on him, Jake feels abandoned by everyone. A friend manages to get him a place to sleep, a luxurious villa that has a « delicious » surprise for him: from the house, through a telescope, he can « spy » the bedroom of a beautiful girl. One night, Jake witnesses the woman's murder… the hunt for the killer begins. Excursion into the world of porn (with a sexy Melanie Griffith), multiple personalities, and double bodies (hence the title « Body Double ») for De Palma's challenge to cinema, crafting an excellent Hitchcockian giallo as only a director of his caliber could make. Splendid the music by Pino Donaggio, scandalous instead the song « Relax » by Frankie goes to Hollywood that halfway through the film accompanies Jake on the set of a porn movie.
