CALIBRE

From the moment a routine hunting trip in the Scottish Highlands takes a tragic and unthinkable turn, the film grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go until the final frame. Director Matt Palmer constructs an agonizingly realistic nightmare where every single decision feels weighty, desperate, and entirely plausible.

What elevates Calibre above standard thrillers is its grounded approach to horror—there are no cheap jumpscares, exaggerated villains, or convenient plot armor. Instead, the horror stems entirely from human error, guilt, and the terrifying speed with which an ordinary life can fall apart.

Jack Lowden and Martin McCann deliver remarkable, career-best performances, portraying sheer panic and deteriorating morale with raw, uncomfortable honesty. Their escalating paranoia feels painfully real, keeping you on the absolute edge of your seat as the web of lies tightens around them. Visually stark and relentlessly atmospheric, Calibre is a dark, brutal masterpiece of suspense that lingers in your mind long after the credits roll—a perfect 10/10 thriller in every sense.
