A group of passing tourists from the north are lured, with deceit, into a small town in the south of only two thousand inhabitants. In the country, they celebrate the centenary of a special event and they are destined to be the "guests of honor"... Lewis' second film, which a few years earlier with "Blood Feast" had introduced the world to the splatter genre. Certainly better than the director's debut work, this film can boast a more intriguing and engaging plot; it's a shame that the usual poor performances of the protagonists and the lack of means available for the realization of special effects greatly limit the film's potential. Notable is the sequence in which a young girl is literally cut to pieces with an axe (very splatter for its time, it seems more ridiculous today). Anyway, worth watching.
