A serial killer roams Bologna, constantly changing his face and identity. A young inspector hunts him down and will have to rely on a blind boy capable of recognizing the murderer by his voice. Based on the eponymous novel by Carlo Lucarelli, a prominent figure of the 90s noir genre, "Almost Blue" is, or rather wants to be, a dark and disturbing thriller in the style of "Seven" or "The Silence of the Lambs" but turns out to be only a poorly executed clone. The best part of the film remains the story which, although not outstanding for its originality, at least offers some points of interest, while the screenplay is lacking and quite confusing. A separate chapter deserves the "performances" of the actors, only the protagonist Lorenza Indovina is saved, quite credible, all the others show evident interpretative limits and in particular Claudio Santamaria gives us expressions that more than a blind boy seem to belong to someone who has just smoked a joint. Last and not negligible flaw of the film is that it doesn't even have a twist, resolving in a predictable ending.
