A man wakes up next to a corpse and doesn't remember what happened to him, the police and mysterious black-clad characters are after him. Between confused memories and sudden intuitions, the man discovers a disturbing and terrible truth... The breakthrough director Alex Proyas (author of the cult film "The Crow") once again demonstrates his visionary talent with this "Dark City", a fantasy-horror among the most original and interesting of recent years. Effective performers (among others William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland and the fascinating Jennifer Connelly), original plot, unexpected ending, all surrounded by a dark and stylized setting, are the main characteristics of this kind of Kafkaesque nightmare. These positive elements can make up for some sequences not quite "successful" in the film (such as the final confrontation between the protagonist and the head of the villains of the moment). Recommended.
