•Brother and sister, children of a count, are segregated at home by their father because he is convinced that his two children are mad due to an inherited mental illness. Meanwhile, in the woods near the count's lands, terrible murders occur one after another, and the peasants begin to believe that the devil is hiding in the castle of the nobles. A doctor specializing in the study of alternative medicine is then called to the bedside of the presumed mad. Soon, the family's mystery will be revealed. Classic costume film by Hammer; a plot a bit too convoluted and the acting, as usual "theatrical", make the film rather boring. Few are the sequences of real suspense. Suitable only for fans of the films of the "mythical" English production company.
