•Various stories of women: Sara, Anna, Alessandra, Laura, and Valentina, presumably friends, harbor resentment. Lies and betrayals turn into anger, violence, and hatred.
But there is someone among them who has discovered that ambiguity is preferably female!
Second feature film (the previous one is "Scream queen" released in 2000) by director Marco Lazzarotto Muratori, with a duration of only 65 minutes.
Filmed with a very tight budget but with an excellent starting idea, this film presents itself as a dark-tinted thriller, but with characteristic elements of horror cinema.
It's a shame there are several flaws, such as the acting of the actors; in fact, to fully succeed, this film should have had professional actors, since it is a rather complex film and even the acting of the actresses is sometimes annoying! The screenplay, then, in some parts turns out to be particularly weak and rushed (65 minutes are too few). If all these flaws had not been present, "Preferibilmente le donne" could have been a really excellent work.
The true strong point of the film is the play of lights that the director manages to create.
If there is very little splatter (it is a psychological thriller after all!), there are instead explicit sex scenes… we can say that the entire film is centered on sex.
However, this film remains a fun work, superior to the standard quality to which we have been accustomed by these underground horror works and in some scenes it can even seem very cruel.
Overall, a more than sufficient work that makes you spend a little more than an hour having fun without problems.
Rating rounded down.
Curiosity: in the film there is a cameo by the Italian punk/rock group "Marsh mallows" in the party scene.
