A psychopathic killer, before dying, transfers his soul into the body of a doll, making it the instrument for his new crimes. The doll is given to a child who is the only one to understand its secret, but no one believes him. Tom Holland signs his greatest success with a very successful horror film, but, in some respects, overrated. The film is to be appreciated above all for the originality of the idea (the doll "Chucky" has become a real icon, along with Freddy, Jason, and Michael of the horror genre of recent years) and for some excellent sequences, especially in the central part, rich in suspense. But much of the success achieved is due more to a successful "commercial promotion" than to the true quality of the film, which, as said, is well-crafted, but certainly not a masterpiece of the genre.
