Marco Castellini
In a castle live a mysterious count and his daughter. The latter frequently has nightmares about murders that, being committed the next day, lead the father to believe that the young woman is the reincarnation of a witch burned at the stake several years earlier. An antiquarian is then called to restore an old painting of the same witch, whose face is too damaged to be seen. After some time, the antiquarian completes his work, finally revealing the true face of the witch... Another cinematic adaptation of "Carmilla" by Le Fanu. This is a decent horror film belonging to the Italian Gothic genre, directed by one of the masters of Italian comedy, Camillo Mastrocinque, who, with this film, tries his hand for the first time in this cinematic genre. Unfortunately, the film suffers somewhat from an "inevitable" slowness that often causes the less interested viewer to lose the thread, but Mastrocinque still manages to give the film an effective setting and dark, spectral atmospheres. In the cast, Christopher Lee and Adriana Ambesi deserve special mention.
