Young Regan (protagonist of the first chapter) is now under the care of a doctor who induces a state of hypnosis and trance in her. A Jesuit, tasked with shedding light on the events that occurred a few years earlier, arrives at the clinic where the girl is hospitalized, follows the sessions and becomes convinced that the devil is still present. He therefore goes to Africa because, according to him, that is where the roots of evil lie. After a long exorcism, Regan will be freed from the demon again. Sequel to Friedkin's great "The Exorcist," the film is nothing more than a pale imitation of the first chapter of the saga; the possession is still played by Linda Blair but with results absolutely inferior to her previous performance. It was practically impossible to make a better film than Friedkin's, but Boorman didn't even come close; it is the worst of the trilogy.
