A London doctor, with an unstable and sick psyche, is sexually attracted to the dead; for this reason, he forces his wife to inject herself with a strange substance that puts her in a state of apparent death. One night, he makes a mistake with the doses and causes the death of his wife. Ten years later, the doctor remarries, but his new companion is haunted by the spirit of his first wife, thirsty for revenge. Considered one of the classics of the Italian horror-gothic tradition, this film by Freda is to be appreciated especially for the courage of having addressed a taboo subject for that time, such as necrophilia. Effective plot, excellent cast but inevitable slowness in the narration of the events. Beautiful but especially suitable for an audience that knows how to appreciate the gothic genre.
