Norman Bates is released after serving twenty years in prison and tries to rebuild his life. But the sister of a victim, who wants to take revenge on Norman, succeeds in driving him mad by making him believe that his mother is still alive. After a new series of murders, the final twist: the mother is actually still alive, but Bates does not hesitate to get rid of her again. When a film is an unmatched masterpiece, it is pointless to make a sequel because it will necessarily be inferior. The good performance by Perkins and the rather original ending are the best things about the movie.
