•The wacky and somewhat crazy characters from the first «Scary Movie» return this time not dealing with crazy killers but with «terrible» supernatural forces… Brothers Marlon and Shawn Wayans, screenwriters and actors of the first as well as this second «Scary Movie», directed again by Keenen Ivory, the eldest, do not keep the promise made with the first chapter and decide to write, produce, and shoot this sequel, which, as often happens, turns out worse than the previous chapter. This time, the inspiring theme is not «Scream», but «Hunting - Presences», even though the «parodic quotations» span various horror titles, including «Hannibal», «The Hidden Truths», «Poltergeist», «The Exorcist», «Shining», but also non-horror like «Mission Impossible 2» and «Charlie's Angels», even going as far as a Nike ad. In short, the Ivory brothers have fun mocking everyone, even though, to be honest, they have little to laugh about. The film, with the exception of the first excellent five minutes (with the parodic version of «The Exorcist» featuring a great James Woods and some really well-placed jokes), is nothing more than a collection of rather simplistic and crude «jokes» that can barely elicit laughter from younger viewers but bore most of the audience. The first «Scary Movie» could entertain, this sequel, frankly, only manages to annoy and represents the classic example of a product made solely for commercial purposes.
