SHE: THE VAMPIRE

Sete da vampira

1998 IT HMDB
January 1, 1998

This film pays homage to the film makers of the 70's and tells the dramatic story of the vampire Carmilla. She has been condemned by the Devil to endless pain:she's dead but is forced to be still living for ever and ever. The story is set in undefined place and undetermined time; all the characters will meet, against their will, the charming vampire. This is a movie of gloomy and romantic atmospheres supported by an enthralling soundtrack and a photography with peculiar colours which call up again a good period for italian cinematography.

As Chianese
Suffocating atmospheres, sublime and soft music... for the reinterpretation of a classic of vampiric narrative like "Carmilla" by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. Surely the best film by Roger A. Fratter, a versatile and sensationalist director with notable editing skills. Everything revolves around a girl, in an undefined place and time, who thinks and suffers about her vampiric nature: fascinating and perverse at the same time... séances, rituals, and passion for a declared homage to the golden periods of national cinema. It definitely deserves a watch. Fratter behind the camera is inspired, the actors (Elisabetta Principe above all) give their best. Notable is the excellent set design. A bravo to Lorenzo Rogan for the photography.
