Nearly two years after the remake of The Blair Witch Project was announced, the project is finally gaining serious momentum and taking shape.
The reboot brings back Joshua Leonard in the lead role, alongside Michael C. Williams as co-star, with original directors Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale serving as executive producers on the Blair Witch remake.
To resurrect our beloved Blair Witch, the biggest names in contemporary horror have joined forces. The film will be co-produced by Jason Blum of Blumhouse and James Wan of Atomic Monster—a filmmaker whose genre-defining works include The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case, Saw, and the recent standout Malignant.
While it remains unclear whether Leonard or Williams will work behind the scenes or make a nostalgic cameo appearance, one thing is certain: over 25 years later, this remake is highly anticipated. When the original film hit theaters in 1998, a massive marketing campaign convinced audiences they were watching actual found footage from an old VHS tape. This clever strategy propelled the film to unexpected and extraordinary success, cementing it as a cornerstone of found-footage horror.
