Federico Frusciante said that before expressing himself publicly about cinema, which he had been frequenting his whole life, he had waited until he was over thirty, because to talk about something like that, he had needed time, to know it. Frusciante passed away at home, in Livorno, at the age of 52, from a sudden illness. For about twenty years, he had managed a video store, Videodrome in Livorno, where, moreover, he was used to advising customers on films. Subsequently, Frusciante opened a YouTube channel, which over the years became a reference point for all cinema enthusiasts. The peculiarity of his videos was their length: nothing like "social pills". Because you can also learn something on YouTube and TikTok. You can share. And he shared his passion for cinema, talked about it, got angry, like when we get angry with a friend, a person we care about. Because he cared about us and dedicated his soul and body to his work on the web. Frusciante was a trader, director, and musician. But throughout Italy, he was best known as a popularizer. And today, many are paying tribute to him with a collective "thank you," a kind of painful "applause" that echoes in the silence left by his premature passing at just 52 years old. Today, Frusciante is mourned not only by those who knew him in his video store in the center of Livorno but also by those who only saw him online and became attached to his videos, which for many had become a ritual, a fixed appointment. He is remembered by those who went to listen to him around Italy in cinemas that invited him to events. We will miss you so much, Federico!
