The quiet town of Paterson is shaken by a series of terrible murders and assaults. The first victim is little Karen Spages, killed in church during her first communion ceremony. The police's suspicions immediately fall on Karen's sister, the twelve-year-old Alice, a girl with serious psychological and behavioral issues. But who is the real culprit behind the murders? What motivates them? A good horror-thriller from the 1970s, underrated at the time of its release and practically unknown in Italy. The director crafts a film with good suspense, although at times a bit slow, supported by an original but not very linear screenplay; excellent are the sequences of some murders (particularly the killing of the father of the two sisters and that of the priest). The cast includes a very young Brooke Shields in the role of little Karen, the first victim of the killer. The film is newly available for the "Horror Cult" series edited by Pulp Video.
