A father loses his five-year-old daughter, the only reason for his life. After the terrible pain, the man becomes convinced that the little girl's soul has reincarnated in the body of a slightly older child who lives in New York. Directed by Robert Wise ("The Haunting") and starring a young Anthony Hopkins, "Audrey Rose" is more of a dramatic film than a true horror film. The story of the father's terrible pain over the loss of his daughter is the thread that runs through the film, which only offers a few isolated moments of suspense. As usual, Hopkins' performance is good and the direction of veteran Wise is effective.
