•A young man sees an old car reduced to scrap and immediately falls in love with it. He decides to buy it and restore it, even if it will cost him heavy sacrifices. His relationship with the car becomes increasingly obsessive, changing his character as well: the shy and reserved boy becomes irritable and egocentric. Anyone who tries to get between him and his "passion" ends up badly, but it is not the boy the true culprit of the accidents and deaths… John Carpenter takes on a Stephen King story and the result is satisfying. The film is smooth and enjoyable to watch, even though it lacks truly terrifying moments, but it couldn't be otherwise given the subject. The movie had an excellent public success upon release, being (still today) one of the most successful horror films of the director. Recommended.
