•Under the influence of drugs, the respectable Dr. Jekyll turns into a truculent monster who kills prostitutes in late 19th-century nocturnal London. In the end, his madness will lead him to murder his wife, thus revealing his identity to the police. Anthony Perkins tries to shake off the role of Norma Bates to portray another "madman" of cinema, the mad Dr. Jekyll of Stevenson's novel. The result is mediocre, not so much because of Perkins' honest performance, but due to a screenplay that aims to be original and, in a certain way, visionary, but only manages to be confusing by presenting a Mr. Hyde closer to the figure of Jack the Ripper than to the character depicted by Stevenson.
