A young man goes to a psychologist for advice after his love story with his girlfriend ends. As the sessions progress, a love story begins between the patient and the psychologist that will end in a "bloodbath". A 15-minute short film by director Christian Arioli, inspired by the eponymous story by Alda Teodorani and part of the project "Deadly Appointments", a collection of Italian underground horror short films inspired by the writer Teodorani's stories. "The Virus" is rich in splatter and wants to pay homage to "Audition" by Takashi Miike with its "hard-to-digest" torture scenes. Truly chilling is the performance of Irene Giordano (already an actress for Arioli and previously for filmmaker Roger Fratter), good that of Alessandro Silvio; excellent and very realistic are then the special effects by Maurizio Quarta and very unsettling is also the background music by Emanuele Savio and Massimo Lanna. Good also is the technique used by the director, now completely at ease behind the camera (he has been working for 12 years!). Overall, a good short film, hardly "digestible" for the most impressionable due to the excessive amounts of blood in some scenes, but that will surely please splatter lovers. Yet another proof that if Italian producers bet on these underground horror directors, they would not be wrong. Short film recommended only to people with strong stomachs. Curiosity.
