VIOLENT PEOPLE

A boy wakes up in a dilapidated room shrouded in darkness. He knows nothing about why he is in that room until he turns on the television and a man appears on the screen, pointing out weapons to be used to save his life. Soon, he will find himself in survival situations against ruthless killers. Why is he here? With "Violent People," a 15-minute short film, Saviano (here under the pseudonym Steve Foose) shares his thoughts on the phenomenon of "reality shows" that are increasingly invading television today. The acting of some actors is not convincing enough (especially that of the protagonist); good tension and the air of claustrophobia and danger lurking that is felt throughout the duration of the film. A blurry photography and, consequently, unclear colors can be a disadvantage for "Violent People," to the point where sometimes it is not clear which character we are looking at; moreover, the direct audio is low and sometimes dirty. Excellent, however, the soundtrack that fits well with the various situations and the tension. Short film that follows the plot of "My Little Eye," but without trying to imitate it and creating an atmosphere that nevertheless distinguishes it. Result: 15 minutes of well-tensed, claustrophobic, sick, and with an excellent and unexpected final twist. This short film is one of the testimonies that in the Italian underground (especially the horror one) there is a desire to make cinema, even good cinema. The only relevant flaws are present only in the technical and acting aspects, but one must always keep in mind that we are not dealing with a short film directed by a professional director and with a high budget at disposal. Recommended to all lovers of short films and to those who, reading this review, have been even slightly curious: you will not be disappointed!
