Wild Beasts - Belve feroci

1984 IT HMDB
February 15, 1984

PCP is unexplainably released into the Frankfurt water supply and sends the zoo inhabitants crazy. One evening after a malfunction of zoo security the gonzo critters rampage through the city eating and killing whatever they fancy, wreaking a night of bloody terror. It's up to regular Italian-trash whipping girl Lorraine De Selle and obnoxious Super Mario lookalike zookeeper John Aldrich to sort it out.

A pollutant present in the water of a large city drives the zoo animals mad. After escaping their cages, they start slaughtering terrified passersby. Quite an original idea for this beast movie directed by Franco Prosperi, a filmmaker who became famous in the mid-1960s worldwide for his documentary-verité films, "Mondo Cane" above all. This is a low-budget (or rather, very low-budget) film, hence with obvious limitations. It is recommended for those who love the genre in question (beast movies, to be precise) and for connoisseurs of Italian-made thrills; not suitable for "fine palates."
