In a garden in Prague, the body of a man, apparently lifeless, is found. The presumed corpse is transported to the morgue, but the man is not actually dead; he is in a state of apparent death where he can feel and witness everything happening around him without being able to move at all. Lying on the autopsy table, awaiting a horrible end, the man tries to remember what happened to him: while investigating the disappearance of his girlfriend, he had discovered the existence of a kind of secret sect... One of the best thrillers of the vast Italian production. An excellent thriller where the intriguing and engaging story is enough to create anxiety and suspense without the need for "strong" scenes or "special effects". Despite a sometimes excessively slow pace, Lado's film convinces with the overall care with which it was shot and surprises the viewer with a chilling ending. A good debut film in which Lado already shows excellent narrative skills, crafting a story continuously suspended between reality and imagination, thus creating a strong sense of tension, especially in the final part of the film. Discontinuous but absolutely fascinating, a highly recommended film.
