The Verdict

The son of the fly-man, the unfortunate scientist Seth Brundle, is kept in a sort of home-laboratory to be continuously analyzed. At first glance, he would seem normal, but the young man ages at a much faster rate than humans and will soon reach the final stage of his mutation: a horrible being similar to a huge insect.

Directed by Chris Walas (who had overseen the excellent special effects of the first film), this sequel to Cronenberg's masterpiece is certainly inferior to its predecessor, but remains quite enjoyable and offers some impactful sequences (the dog's metamorphosis, the final scenes of the monster). Excellent makeup and effects, a somewhat too thin script, for a final product that is still well-made.
