In the future, a devastating plague has infected nearly the entire population, and the world has plunged into a post-apocalyptic era where technology is just a dusty relic in the pockets of the survivors. One of them is a vampire hunter who will face the most terrible of creatures in a duel to the death.
But why does this man hunt vampires?
A 2004 short film directed by the group "I licaoni," lasting just over 10 minutes, marking their first foray into the horror genre.
In "Last Blood," a great wild nature is staged, full of lurking dangers and with a truly dark atmosphere that clearly seeks to pay homage to the cruelty of 1970s and 1980s horror films.
Great sound effects, especially the creatures' voices that seem really realistic and not ridiculous at all; there is an abundant presence of blood created with good special effects and there is also an abundance of action, especially in the final part.
Directors Alessandro Izzo and Guglielmo Favilla demonstrate their talent behind the camera, giving us excellent shots.
Good the ironic and unexpected final twist, which clearly presents itself as a witty critique of contemporary society.
This short film is truly a great surprise, flawless in everything (just think that it is a short film made with a very small budget!), which will make the viewer spend 10 minutes in the best possible way and with great fun!
Watching this good short film is practically recommended to everyone!
Rating rounded down.
Trivia: In "Last Blood," there are no dialogues, and the only voice present in some scenes is a recording that the protagonist carries with him in his walkman during his hunt!
The short film in question won the "Special Jury Prize" at the 2004 Joe D'Amato Horror Festival.
