•A terrible epidemic has turned all men into vampires. The only survivor is Dr. Morgan, immunized by the bite of a bat, who every night must fight against these terrible beings to save his life, hoping to see another sad and desolate dawn... A small gem of Italian horror filmography from the 1960s. Based on the famous novel by Matheson "I'm legend", the film is the perfect example of how an excellent actor (Vincent Price) and solid direction (Ubaldo Ragona), supported by a good subject, are enough to make an excellent horror film, without the need for significant economic means. Watching the film, a strong analogy immediately stands out between the vampires now masters of the earth in Ragona's film and the living dead that will be seen a few years later on screens in Romero's masterpiece: from the makeup, through their slow and staggering movements, to the sequence of the assault on the poor Dr. Morgan's house (a Vincent Price absolutely perfect). Highly recommended. Curiosity: the film was shot in the EUR district of Rome, transformed for the occasion into an apocalyptic post-apocalyptic scenario, strewn with corpses, rubble, and car wrecks.
