•Robert and Annie are a couple of lovers, apparently "normal"; Robert, however, has an unusual job, as he works in a special team for the recovery of bodies of people who died in accidents. Increasingly morbidly attracted to death, Robert one day decides to bring home limbs and parts of corpses, and Annie, instead of feeling disgust, enjoys it, entering, together with her lover, a whirlwind of sex, madness, morbidity that will lead to disastrous consequences!
"Nekromantik" is a film made with a very limited budget, but despite this, it did not come out defeated, on the contrary, it benefited, resulting in a small masterpiece of the genre.
As Buttgereit has always accustomed us with his previous films, "Nekromantik" is rich in splatter and exudes perversion from the beginning to the end. This "Nekromantik" is not the usual splatter film, but rather presents itself as pure poetry cleverly disguised as unsustainable necrophilic horror, a small film enclosed in the peripheral and squalid neighborhoods of a city.
Although it is a purely amateur and self-produced film, "Nekromantik" represents an excellent film that still today manages to be appreciated by horror lovers (although there are no lack of comments defining it as simple trash) and be at the center of film critics' debates.
Buttgereit's film is one of the best of the horror subgenre dealing with "necrophilia", there is reason to applaud the director who, in his career, has created film gems capable of overcoming the barrier in which underground products and directors get trapped, failing to emerge and become known outside the niche circuit.
The availability of this film is high, but it is difficult to find its version with at least Italian subtitles (the "Special european edition") which has a rather high price. If you want advice: "Learn German and you will save!"
The viewing of "Nekromantik" is recommended exclusively to people with an "iron stomach"!
