NINE GUESTS FOR A CRIME

Nove ospiti per un delitto

1977 IT HMDB
January 12, 1977

Nine members of an extremely rich and hateful family have decided to have a reunion on a remote island in the Mediterranean. No sooner than their arrival, old grudges, resentments, and feuds make themselves known, along with allusions to some more macabre events in their past. But when their boats are sabotaged, thus stranding them without any connection to the mainland, it becomes clear that someone is not willing to let old wounds heal, a fact made all the more clear as bodies start to pile up...

Nine people, all related, arrive at a villa on an island to spend a holiday: soon, one of the girls present disappears. Some of the guests believe that the latter drowned, while others even think that her disappearance is the work of a ghost... Conventional thriller with very few ideas (all stolen here and there from various films) and mediocre actors. The screenplay and direction leave much to be desired. The subject, moreover, rather than being inspired by Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" (as one might suppose from reading the plot), is almost entirely taken from Mario Bava's "Five Dolls for an August Moon," copying its style and even the final twist.
