•A mad killer murders his victims according to the methods described in a famous horror novel, following, step by step, in his movements the writer of the book. The police stumble in the dark and the deaths follow one another, up to the inevitable final twist. A classic thriller-horror as only Argento knows how to do: engaging plot, excellent murder sequences, and perfect soundtrack, once again curated by the legendary Goblin. Return the salient features of Argentinian cinema: violent murders, innocents unjustly suspected, killer revealed only in the last scene, all in a perfect mix between giallo, horror, and suspense. Several moments of great cinema - such as the long takes inside and outside the house where the two lesbian friends live or the sequences with which the film ends - and the aseptic setting in the Eur district of Rome make "Tenebre" a mandatory stop in Argento's filmography. In the cast, in addition to the always great Daria Nicolodi, the good performances of a young Giuliano Gemma and the protagonist Anthony Franciosa stand out. A clarification must be made: there are three different versions of "Tenebre": the edition broadcast (rarely) on television that, needless to say, is horribly censored in several points; a video version lasting 96 minutes and not suitable for viewers under 14, also "mutilated" by censorship, though in only one sequence - one of the best in the film - and that is the one of the murder of Veronica Lario; finally, there is the video version of 98 minutes and not suitable for viewers under 18, the only one totally uncut and therefore the one we highly recommend watching to fully enjoy the film.
