Maximilian is the last descendant of an ancient race of Caribbean vampires. Settled in Brooklyn, he seeks a way to give new offspring to his lineage; when he meets the beautiful and young Rita, he realizes that she is the right woman for his purposes… Craven throws himself into another "commercial" project, disappointing his fans once again. The director's intent is unclear (did he want to make a comedy? a horror film?) but it is clear that the result was one of the worst: the film neither scares nor entertains, and even the istrionic talent of the good Eddie Murphy seems wasted in the role of a little credible vampire-temptress. Where has the director of "Nightmare" and "The Hills Have Eyes" gone?
