Exquisite Corpses: Blumhouse Brings James Tynion IV's Dark Horror Universe to the Screen

Blumhouse Atomic has entered into a new partnership with James Tynion IV and his production company Tiny Onion to develop Exquisite Corpses, the acclaimed horror series published by Image Comics, with the goal of transforming it into a film and animation project.

The announcement was made on November 6, 2026, and picked up by several major American entertainment outlets.

At the heart of the story is a deadly game that repeats every five years on Halloween night. Thirteen powerful families from the American elite orchestrate a brutal competition in which some of the world's most dangerous serial killers are pitted against each other. The battleground is an otherwise peaceful town, whose unsuspecting residents become pawns in a spectacle orchestrated for the entertainment and power of the wealthy elite.

A no-holds-barred challenge where survival means being the last killer standing.

Created by Tynion IV alongside artist Michael Walsh, with colors by Jordie Bellaire, the series has been a major commercial success, selling over a million copies in its first eighteen months. This achievement has solidified Exquisite Corpses as a particularly attractive property for film and television adaptation.

The deal also marks an evolution of Blumhouse's relationship with Tynion, who are already collaborating on an adaptation of his successful work, Something Is Killing the Children. Jason Blum emphasized the value of working with the creator, highlighting his narrative skill and distinctive sensibility for horror storytelling.

For Blumhouse, Exquisite Corpses could become far more than a simple comic book adaptation: its rich universe of characters, rivalries, and extreme scenarios offers numerous opportunities for expansion.

As of now, no cast, director, or release date has been announced.

One thing, however, is already clear: with its blend of violence, social commentary, and ruthless competition, Exquisite Corpses has all the ingredients to become one of the next major horror properties to watch.
