Well, the long-awaited release of Scream 7 is literally just around the corner, and the first official trailer confirms it.
Ghostface is back, more ruthless and sadistic than ever. The most intriguing development is the return of actress Neve Campbell, who famously played the tormented Sidney Prescott in the first four films. To everyone's surprise and delight, she's back as the lead in a chapter that promises to bring the franchise back to its roots.
In this installment, Sidney now lives a quiet, peaceful life with her daughter (Isabel May), until a new ruthless masked killer decides to hunt her down again. Directly connected to our protagonist's past, the maniac seems determined to avenge something that haunts him, pursuing Sidney once more.
Joining her are Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and other familiar faces from the saga, along with new cast members who likely won't make it out alive. The presence of Matthew Lillard and David Arquette in the cast has sparked wild theories: dream sequences, flashbacks, or something else?
Behind the camera is Kevin Williamson, the screenwriter of the earliest films, who has returned presumably for the franchise's final chapter (?). Scream 7 won't just be another horror filmβit's a sharp meditation on the current state of horror cinema and franchises that fundamentally never die. Ghostface is back and ready to hit Italian theaters on February 27, 2026.
