Anna, in lutto per la morte improvvisa dei suoi genitori, si trasferisce da New York a una piccola città della Florida per vivere con la nonna che non ha mai incontrato. Isolata, vulnerabile e bisognosa di amici, trova un breve conforto nella compagnia di due adolescenti del posto. Ma quando diventa complice del loro imperdonabile atto di violenza, si ritrova intrappolata da Mr. Sandman, l'anima contorta di un bambino tormentato che infesta i sogni dei bulli prima di banchettare con i loro occhi al loro risveglio.
