Neither sequel nor remake of Hess's film. Simply another interpretation (more faithful to the concepts but not to the names of the characters) of the novel « Monsters » (« Watchers ») by Dean R. Koontz. More faithful but not therefore a masterpiece.
The film, produced by Roger Corman, has some interesting moments (like the beginning) but then it falls apart; the dose of violence is at the levels of the previous film, although there seems to be a more savage complete version. The real problem is the director's decision to show the creature almost immediately and too well: if the makeup were well done, it could have worked, but it is not. Good the music of the opening credits.
