WATCHERS II

From a government research laboratory escape a dog with an astonishing intelligence quotient and a violent killer monster intent on killing it. Neither sequel nor remake of Hess's film. Simply another interpretation (more faithful to the concepts but not to the names of the characters) of the novel « Monsters » (« Watchers ») by Dean R. Koontz. More faithful but not therefore a masterpiece. The film, produced by Roger Corman, has some interesting moments (like the beginning) but then it falls apart; the dose of violence is at the levels of the previous film, although there seems to be a more savage complete version. The real problem is the director's decision to show the creature almost immediately and too well: if the makeup were well done, it could have worked, but it is not. Good the music of the opening credits.
