Samantha and Craig are a young couple who have fulfilled all their dreams, except the most important one: having a child. Forced to resort to artificial insemination, the two turn to a prestigious clinic that will help them realize their dream. As soon as Samantha discovers she is expecting twins, she begins to receive unsettling warnings from a stranger, which make her fear that something terrifying is linked to the birth of her children. Samantha's dreams will soon turn into a nightmare, from which there seems to be no way out. Distributed by Fox only for the home video market, 'Blessed ' The Seed of Evil' is a 98-minute horror-thriller directed by Simon Fellows ( '7 seconds' ), featuring mainly the names of the two leads: Heather Graham ( 'The True Story of Jack the Ripper'; 'Austin Powers'; 'Shock to the System' ) and James Purefoy ( 'Resident Evil' ). We are faced with yet another chapter of good versus evil, God vs. the Devil, in a story that takes place in the 21st century and sees the advent of the demon in the usual womb of a sweet and beautiful girl unaware of the situation. 'Blessed' gives the feeling of a film seen and revisited (some situations recall, for example, 'The Calling' just to mention one), where an attempt is made to insert at least one variant that can touch originality in the story to give that touch of diversity; in this case, in fact, it is not about the Antichrist but other figures called 'Agents of Satan', in a script that is probably now exhausted having already given all it could give in cinema! A film with a slow and boring pace, interrupted by a couple of good jumps from the seat and supported only by the two actors mentioned earlier. The director at one point tries to cling to James Purefoy and his past in 'Resident Evil' (there is a scene where the actor appears just like in 'Resident Evil', same leather jacket accompanied by almost the same musical notes) in an attempt to make the film interesting (a really desperate move). Only a little before the end does the pace become decent, reminding the viewer of the genre to which the film they are watching belongs. Blood almost completely absent as well as makeup, not to mention special effects: zero! In short, a film without pretensions, which mixes 'Rosemary's Baby' with the more recent 'Godsend'; definitely for everyone; or rather… for everyone interested!
