Researchers on the undersea lab Aquatica have genetically altered the brains of captive sharks to develop a cure for Alzheimer's disease. In a marine research center, experiments are conducted on shark brains to find a cure for cancer. The result, however, is not as expected: the scientists only manage to create sharks that are more intelligent and stronger than normal, which soon turn against them. A film that relies on computer-generated digital effects and sudden, unexpected sequences that make the audience jump out of their seats (one of the most notable being the sequence of Samuel L. Jackson's death). A rather thin and predictable plot and an unlikely development of events are, instead, its weak points. In conclusion, a decent beast movie that is easy to watch, enjoyable, and with good doses of blood, but not particularly memorable.
