Taken from Poe's famous story, the film tells the tragic end of the Usher dynasty, destined to die out due to an ancient curse. Ghosts, apparitions, violent deaths, all in a highly gothic atmosphere. Corman's direction is careful to suggest horror rather than show it, and the film gains in suspense and tension. In the cast, Vincent Price.
