A private detective dealing with the strange death of an illusionist and a kind of guru named Nix will discover that not all magicians use tricks. Return to horror for the Hellraiser director-writer Clive Barker, with an ambitious project that turned out to be a partial flop. Original plot and good performance by the lead actor Scott Bakula, but a plot that is a bit too convoluted and a total lack of suspense greatly limit the film's impact. Just passable.
