Mad doctor mitteleuropeo uccide varie persone per procurarsi sangue fresco da somministrare a un organismo sintetico di sua creazione mentre il popolino superstizioso, da lui stesso pilotato tramite ipnosi collettiva, dà la colpa a un’orda di piastrelli vampiri… Classico horror vampiresco degli anni ‘30. Il film in questione diretto da Stayer risulta molto lento e non ha nulla di interessante e di conseguenza è preferibile che lasciate perdere e cerchiate altrove.

Lionel Atwill is quite menacing as "Dr. von Niemann" in this horror mystery. Folks from a very superstitious European village start dying - drained of all their blood; and vampirism is their logical conclusion. Melvyn Douglas has a much more sceptical head on his shoulders and decides to investigate further. This is better than the usual gothic mystery; and Fay Wray adds a little glamour to the proceedings too. There are no special effects to giggle at - and no music at all, just a couple of decent performances and an hour of quite an eerily told murder story.
