•Second feature film by Alex Visani, still marked "Gorebrothers". If "Blade Killer" marked the beginning of the adventure with a positive debut and especially a lot of passion, "Zombi new millenium" not only confirms the good impressions and the desire to bring out something new and fresh, but also takes a step forward in the screenplay (which deviates from the classic canons of zombie movies we have seen so far), as well as in photography and special effects. In particular, the latter are definitely one of the strengths of the film, always handmade but very effective and well done: the splatter and gore side is best rendered by a well-designed makeup and great ideas; there are no lack of decaying skin, splattering blood, vomit, amputations, intestines and even a transformation with canine teeth that sprout in a style almost "Stivalettiano". So, well done to the FX curator Tom Larini (who is also an actor). As mentioned, "Zombi new millenium" represents a new way of interpreting the myth of the undead, no longer tribalized, no longer born from a magic book but "demonized" through today's technology: internet, cell phones, radio, television. A "viral" contagion that runs through a computer program, a contagion that no one can escape and, after all, progress itself is a contagion for man. Alex Visani behind the camera handles light games, close-ups very well and especially proves to be very skilled in night shoots (a characteristic of his films) that, as already happened in "Blade Killer", do not end up compromising the quality of the product and, on the contrary, make it "dark", "terrible" and scary at just the right point. Some tributes to the cinema of great authors, from "Videodrome" by Cronenberg to "Dèmoni" by Lamberto Bava, from "Halloween III" to the madness of the mad doctors (excellent the character of Bruno, alcoholic programmer decidedly controversial) are the starting points for a personal product and really worth discovering. Well done the actors (especially Dan A.Sabatta, protagonist with two faces), excellent the music (signed Dan, Tom and Alex) with a good dose of Heavy Metal. Finally, a last note: in the film, what contaminates a future zombie is the vision of a VHS... that VHS which is seen in a TV is "Blade Killer" by the same Gorebros. A funny self-citation. The film is dedicated to the great Joe D'Amato. For more information: www.alexvisani.com
