E’ il 31 di Ottobre, la notte di Halloween, quando Angela decide di festeggiare la serata assieme ai propri amici presso il sinistro maniero di Hull House, oggetto in passato di efferati delitti nonché ex agenzia di pompe funebri. Sarà proprio all’interno di questa casa che i nostri baldi giovani risveglieranno, per gioco, il maligno dal suo (lungo???) sonno, il quale, impossessandosi delle anime dei poveri sfortunati, riuscirà come sa fare soltanto lui a seminare terrore e morte tra le mura del tetro maniero.

È la notte di Halloween, un gruppo di ragazzi decide di fare una festa in una casetta isolata ma quello che i giovani non sanno e che stanno per scatenarsi delle forze demoniache dall’oltretomba. Un discreto horror che non lesina sangue ed effetti splatter; nulla di eccezionale o di innovativo ma per una volta una pellicola che, senza grandi pretese, riesce a suscitare qualche sano spavento e alcuni momenti divertenti.

Hell yes Night of the Demons. Shoulda made fifty of these bloody things. The opening credits is always a highlight. So much stupid 80s schlocky fun to be had in this franchise, and never more so than in this, the original.

Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. Would personally recommend you give it a go.

"Night of the Demons" is a less than prestigious production and it seems to take much of its inspiration from films such as "The Evil Dead" (1981) with a small group of young people becoming trapped in a less than hospitable abandoned house where unspeakable evil dwells. There are admittedly some impressive make-up effects, but overall there is a listless quality to the whole proceedings and the mediocre shocks and scares just do not provide the sort of exciting pay-off they are obviously designed to produce. The lengthy chase sequences through the many dusty and shadowy hallways of Hull house are hampered by a strangely pedestrian pace and any genuine excitement is noticeably absent in this routine genre film which is much too easy to forget.
