A group of speleologists is completing an important experiment on human resistance to underground life; but deep in the earth, a terrible discovery awaits them: an abbey, buried for many centuries, holds the remains of seven monks slaughtered for their heresy. Those damned spirits are now about to return to life seeking their revenge. With the exception of a few decent splatter scenes, this is yet another forgettable horror film by Lenzi. Ridiculous plot, poor actors, and sequences bordering on the ridiculous, including one that deserves special mention where the monks come back to life in the false guise of miners, so as to try to deceive the speleologists who, however, ingeniously, realize the disguise thanks to the medieval sandals these wear instead of work boots! Any further comment seems superfluous.
