•A group of young people, returning from a party, have an accident and find themselves lost in a forest. The young people split up to look for help but will meet a bad end: lurking is the most bloodthirsty family of butchers in America that needs fresh meat…
Presented as a sort of remake of the first chapter of the saga created by Hooper, this film does not come close at all to that movie; the plot, in fact, is very similar to Hooper's cult classic, but for the rest we are light years away from the violence and crudeness of the images that made "Non Aprite quella Porta" a success. The characters seem so stereotyped that they appear to be a sort of caricature of themselves, and the attempt to combine humor and horror fails miserably, making the film descend into the absurd. The only good thing is the performance of the talented Renée Zellweger (who became famous alongside Tom Cruise in "Jerry Maguire").
A true and total disappointment! They could have avoided "messing with" another horror myth with this unnecessary sequel-remake.
