The financially strained and increasingly desperate, Lester Parsons concocts a brilliant get-rich-quick scheme; cruise the lonely hearts ads for rich women to fleece. Too bad then, that Lester’s also a psychotic cannibal who enjoys mutilating these lovelorn souls, via his trusty chainsaw, and using their flesh for his dinner. When a copycat killer threatens to bring him down, Lester must do all he can to prevent this new killer’s sloppy work from ruining them both.

A maniac lures wealthy and elderly ladies through newspaper ads, then kills them and steals their belongings. The money "earned" is "invested" in horse races; it will be the "materialization of his conscience" that will take him out. Shot with few means by that misunderstood genius Lucio Fulci, the deliberately exaggerated film is especially suitable for splatter lovers, with plenty of dismemberment scenes and even cannibalism. With films like this, Fulci earned the nickname "craftsman of horror"; probably, if he had had more resources at his disposal, this director would have known how to give much more to Italian horror. Some quite evident flaws do not fail to "rust" the film to some extent, including the usual poor acting and some rather inappropriate and out-of-place pseudo-comic sequences.
