Little Cole (Haley Joel Osment), a boy with some psychological problems, is entrusted to the care of Malcom Crowe (Bruce Willis), an important psychiatrist specialized in relationships with children. The man discovers that the child is convinced he sees the ghosts of people who died many years ago and who still wander, for some reason, without peace. Are these visions of a sick mind or is there something true in what the child says? And why do the spirits seek to contact him? A box office hit worldwide and an Oscar nominee for the performance of the young Haley Joel Osment, "The Sixth Sense" is certainly one of the best ghost stories of the nineties. Excellent sense of rhythm and suspense building are certainly the film's main positive characteristics, as well as the ability to create from the beginning a narrative mechanism exclusively aimed at the solution-revelation finale. The ability to distract the viewer with false clues contributes to giving more strength to the moment of the final climax, which resolves in an unexpected and shocking revelation. Sensations that stand out especially for the film's ability to constantly build a strong sense of anticipation that is almost always postponed. Apparently always on the verge of providing the viewer with important clues and explanations, the film actually plays to deceive the public, reserving all the answers to the viewer's questions only at the end of the viewing. Great directorial performance by the debuting Indian director Shyamalan (who also reserves a small cameo in the role of a doctor). It had been a long time since we had seen a ghost story of such great quality, a must-see.
