A Monster in the Sewers

An exasperated father flushes his son's pet alligator down the toilet. However, the animal survives and finds refuge in the sewers, where it grows by feeding on all kinds of waste, including chemicals. The result? A gigantic monster that, years later, emerges to the surface, spreading panic throughout the city. “**Alligator**” is a small cult classic from the 80s, inspired by (and a source of inspiration for) one of the most famous American urban legends: that of giant crocodiles living in the sewers. The film delivers truly effective moments — such as the scenes of the monster rampaging through the streets or the iconic scene of the child in the swimming pool — and has the notable merit of almost never descending into ridicule. A perfect example of a B-movie monster flick crafted with skill and intelligence. A sequel was also made, “**Alligator 2: The Mutation**”, though it was never released in the UK. **Recommended for fans of old-school horror cinema!**
