A young man, member of a religious sect that renounces technology, decides to leave this brotherhood and marry a city girl. From that moment on, he will be pursued by his former companions and an ancient curse will fall upon him. Perhaps the least known film by the creator of "Nightmare", Wes Craven, and in fact, if it is not very well known, there is a reason: the film is indeed boring and rather predictable, a sort of TV movie without too many pretensions. After the horror of "Expresso" and very visible in his ultra-gore beginnings ("The Last House on the Left", "The Hills Have Eyes"), Craven, also forced by production pressures, tries to shift towards a softer and less macabre style: a more psychological fear. The attempt, however, is not entirely successful, the film offers some intriguing situations (Sharon Stone's dream with the spider, the bath in Maren Jensen's tub), but the screenplay is lacking and fails to give the film a solid narrative structure. Suitable mainly for fans of the director.
