FLATLINERS

A group of friends, all medical students about to graduate, decide to conduct an extremely dangerous experiment: they want to attempt to cross the threshold of life, creating a true state of induced death from which they can then wake up and return to tell, as witnesses, the afterlife. The visions of the ultraterrestrial world are not very reassuring, but the fearless young people continue their experiment beginning a sort of competition to see who lasts the longest. Original idea, excellent cast with some actors, like Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon, who will later become true Hollywood stars, and a good development of the film up to about halfway; the film then begins to decline into the predictable to end with a jarring happy ending.
